CHRISTMAS EVE 2008

Early on Christmas Eve Richard showed up at our door to show us the nice tires that Santa had brought him. We were happy to be able to see them under the mud! Yes, he knows how to have fun - and even more, he knows how to work - because it took lots of work to cut his Jeep to get them to fit!

I wanted to really enjoy this Christmas Eve with our traditional Dinner, Luke 2 Video and Music, Grandkids finding the symbols of Christmas, putting them on the tree, and putting Baby Jesus in the Manger under the tree, matching pijamas, gifts and games - because as our children marry, our children have their other families to join. This year we missed Rory, Heather, Alex and Aurora - but next year they will come and we will celebrate earlier in December all together!

We chatted with them on the telephone several times - missing them - but the party had to go on! The best laugh was Cam's - "...but the sleeves are perfect!" (you would have to be there!)

We invited Bailey and her mom, Sheri, and Gary and Debra Brooksfrom down the street to share in our dinner and Christmas program. We love sharing with others - and hope that they enjoy our noisy group.

This year Grandma Gurney was with us - a great gift in itself! We took her with us to "The Forgotten Carols" where Jordan Bluth (cousin) sand the lead role. It is another great way of feeling the Christmas spirit! Grandma Bluth was in Las Vegas with Antoinette's family - recovering from her surgery. We have some amazing 82 year old great-grandmas for our grandkids!

Riley and Ashley brought Chloe (our quassi granddaughter) so Richard would have someone to play with due to shortage of Wii controls!

Looks like Dad (Rick) is separating Riley and Ashley from tough competition - and also, like Jonique and Jacob will only need one chair when they are married!

Gurney Family Proclamation

We, the Gurneys, are an eternally organized family who chose to leave God's presence to receive mortal bodies, and have covenanted to live worthily to return to Him again.

We love, honor and respect our Father in Heaven, ourselves and all people and creations.

We obey Christ's teachings, follow the living Prophets and seek for personal revelation and guidance through faith, prayer and scripture study.

We work hard, are honest in all our dealings, we repent of our errors (through the Atonement of our Savior) and forgive others for their wrongdoings as we seek always for that which is positive and uplifting.

We honor the awesome power and authority of the Priesthood, we will receive all needed ordinances and we will receive and keep all temple covenants.

We seek for wholesome influences, associations, service opportunities and will create memorable family activities that unite and strengthen us - - while adding fulfillment and happiness to our Earthly lives.

I AM A DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST

The decision has been made, I have stepped over the line. The dye has been cast - - I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I won't look back, let up, slow down or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.

I'm finished and done with low living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, positions, promotions, plaudits or popularity.

I don't have to be first, right, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded.

I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am uplifted by prayer, and labor with power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven.

My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, divided or delayed.

I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, stay quiet, or let up - until I have stayed up, stored up, and paid up for the cause of Christ.

I will work 'til He comes, give 'til I drop, teach all I know, and work 'til He stops me - and -

when He returnes (which He will) He will have no problem recognizing me - I will be like Him.
